Get content into a new Descript project

Import your existing files when you’ve already recorded outside of Descript, and you’re ready to edit your content, create clips, or add branding.
  1. Download your recordings from Riverside. Choose aligned participant tracks when available to preserve the recording’s timing and edit speakers individually, or a finished audio/video file for additional cuts or clips.
  2. In Descript, create a new project.
  3. Import your tracks to your new project. If you imported separate participant tracks, combine them into a sequence so they play together and stay together when you edit.
After adding your content to a Descript project, you’re ready to move forward.

Edit your episode

Descript is a text-based editor, so you’ll edit your video by editing the text in the script panel, just like Riverside. To cut a part of the content, select the corresponding text in the script panel, then hit Delete. Use Ignore to cross out text and skip it during playback while keeping it visible in your script.

Export and review your episode

Follow the export and publishing guide to create the output you normally deliver. Test the destination you actually use, including any separate podcast host or publishing platform. Play the exported file or review a private test upload. Check the audio, video, captions, and cut points.
