- The max file upload size varies by plan (with a 50 GB max):
- Free: up to 1GB per file
- Hobbyist: up to 10GB per file
- Creator: up to 20GB per file
- Business: up to 50GB per file
- Files with three or more audio channels are automatically downmixed to stereo on import. To work with individual channels, split the file into mono tracks first.
- HDR video is supported but currently in beta — you may notice some slowness during editing and exporting.
Supported and unsupported file types
**Can be imported through the Descript API, but not in the app. See Importing with the API.
Document files like
DOCX, TXT, and RTFcannot be imported to Descript.
Importing with the API
Files imported through the Descript API (project and drive media import, by URL or direct upload) accept more formats than the app. The API checks the container and codecs independently, so a file is accepted when its container and its codecs are all listed below and it is not encrypted or DRM-protected.
These formats are accepted at import. The Descript app does not yet let you add them from the media library or by drag and drop, so import them through the API. FLV and GXF are not supported.
