If you received one or multiple charges from Descript and are unsure what it’s for, we’re here to help. This article discusses the various charges you may receive from Descript. If you would like to reverse a charge, please see our refund policy. To avoid any unexpected future charges, make sure to cancel your subscription.

Do you have multiple accounts?

Users occasionally report unexpected charges from Descript, only to realize that they had made accounts under multiple email addresses. Please verify your subscription status using any additional email addresses.A single account can also own multiple Drives, and each Drive has its own separately billed subscription. Canceling the plan on one Drive doesn’t cancel plans on your other Drives. Each Drive’s subscription also has its own payment method. Updating the card on one Drive doesn’t update the others, so a second subscription can keep charging an older card. Use the Drive picker in App Settings to review the Plan tab for every Drive you own.

Understanding and recognizing Descript charges

Please review your invoices and subscription details by logging into your Descript account. Check for any recent changes to your Plan (e.g., plan upgrades or add-ons) that may have affected your billing. You can see a list of recent and upcoming charges by viewing your invoice history. These charges may include:
  • Subscriptions — Descript subscriptions renew automatically each month or year unless canceled.
  • Drive members and additional transcriptionAdding additional drive members or increasing your monthly transcription limit for your plan increases your subscription cost. These charges will be itemized on your subscription invoice.
  • Local-currency payments — If you paid in a currency other than USD, your bank statement shows the local amount. Your Descript invoice lists the USD total and the local amount charged. See Pay in your local currency.
If you believe a charge is still incorrect or unintentional, contact support or reply to any open request with any additional details about the charge.
