The Media panel gives you access to Descript’s library of stock videos, images, GIFs, stickers, backgrounds, music, and sound effects — all ready to drop into your project.
This article covers:
- What’s in the Media panel
- Browse and add stock media to your project
- Where stock media files are stored
What’s in the Media panel
Open the Media panel by clicking Media in the right sidebar.
Business and Enterprise plans with Brand Studio can toggle between Stock and Brand Media at the top of the panel. If the Drive owner or an admin has disabled stock media permissions, only Brand media will be available. Learn more about Brand Studio permissions.
Within the stock library, you can choose between:
- Visual: Stock videos, GIFs, stickers, images, and backgrounds
- Audio: Music tracks and sound effects
Use the search bar to find specific content by keyword, or browse by category.
Browse and add stock media to your project
- Open the Media panel in the right sidebar.
- Switch between the Visual or Audio tabs at the top of the panel.
- Search for or browse the media you want.
- Add it to your composition.
Where stock media files are stored
When you add stock media to your project, Descript automatically saves it alongside your other files. You’ll find it in the Stock Media folder under Files in the Project panel.
Stock media behaves like any other project file — you can reuse it across compositions, replace it, or manage it directly from the Project panel.
