We make an honest effort to provide workflows for using external tools with Descript, but your mileage may vary. If you run into issues using this integration, please reach out to Raycast for assistance.

Set up the Descript extension
The Descript extension needs a personal API token to talk to your drive. Create the token in Descript, then paste it into Raycast.- Install the Descript extension from the Raycast store.
- Create a Descript API token by following the steps outlined in How to create your API token.
- In Raycast, open Extensions, find Descript, and paste the token into Descript API Token.
What the Descript extension does
Each capability is a Raycast command. Trigger any of them from the Raycast search bar.- Import Selected Media: select files in Finder, run the command, and press Enter to upload them into a new or existing project. Uploads run in the background, so dismissing Raycast won’t cancel the transfer.
- Browse Projects: search a paginated list of your projects, preview composition and media counts and durations, and drill in to deep-link straight to the Descript web app.
- Run Underlord Prompt: pick a project (and optionally a composition), choose a starter preset or one of your saved prompts, and kick off an Underlord edit. Save your own prompts for reuse.
- Publish Composition: start a video or audio publish from Browse Projects or a project’s contents. The share link appears in Recent Jobs and the menu bar when it’s ready.
- Recent Jobs: watch live status for imports, Underlord edits, and publishes. Filter by type, cancel running jobs, and copy share links.
- Descript Activity: a menu bar item that shows a running count of active uploads and in-progress jobs, with quick jumps into each command.
Imports and Underlord edits run through the Descript API and use your media minutes and AI credits. See Track and understand your media minutes and AI credits for details.
Convert a transcript to YouTube chapters
Additionally, the Descript to YouTube Chapters extension turns an exported Descript transcript into YouTube chapter timestamps you can paste into a video description.- Export your transcript from Descript as a
.txtfile. - Select the
.txtfile in Finder. - Open Raycast and run the Descript to YouTube Chapters command.
Known limitations and tips
- One token per drive. Each API token is tied to a single drive. To work across drives, create a separate token for each and switch the token in the extension’s preferences.
- Jobs poll for updates. Recent Jobs and the menu bar check for status every few seconds rather than updating instantly. Finished import records clear themselves after 7 days.
- Chapters need an exported transcript. The YouTube chapters extension reads a
.txttranscript file from Finder — it doesn’t pull directly from a live project. Export the transcript first.
