Descript Labs is where you switch on features that are still in development, before they officially launch. Labs features are enabled per user. Turning a Labs feature on only affects your own Descript account, not all members of your Drive.

How to access a Descript Labs feature

Access Labs features from the App settings. The keyboard shortcut Command/Control + , (comma) is the quickest way to get there.

Features currently in Labs

New timeline The updated Timeline in Descript brings a cleaner layout, improved tool organization, and a more focused editing experience designed to help you work faster with fewer distractions. This refresh introduces a streamlined interface and better grouping of timeline tools, making it easier to manage your layers and script edits. Try the new Timeline by enabling it in Labs. Underlord beta AI co-editor Descript’s AI co-editor is a smarter, more collaborative way to write, edit, and explore ideas across your script. The new Underlord gives you a dedicated chat experience, supports full-script edits, and helps automate your creative workflow.
