How to install the app
Installing Descript on macOS
- Download the Descript Installer for Mac.
- Once the .zip file has been downloaded to your computer, click to unpack the file.
- Drag the extracted Descript application to your Applications folder.
- Double-click the app to launch and begin installing Descript. If you’re prompted to confirm opening the file, click Open.

Installing Descript on Windows
- Download the Descript Installer for Windows.
- Once the .zip file has been downloaded to your computer, click to unpack it then double-click the installer app to launch and begin installation.
Descript will now begin installing, which includes downloading the full application files. The download could take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours, depending on your internet speed. If it looks like the installation has stalled partway through, we recommend leaving the installer application alone during this time until the download has successfully completed.
- Once the download is complete, sign in or create an account. After that, you can start using Descript.
When you upgrade Descript, any unuploaded files from your media library will automatically be saved in your local downloads folder on your computer. This ensures you don’t lose any data during the upgrade process to the latest version.
