Descript can automatically transcribe 25 different languages.

Although Greek and Hindi transcriptions are available they are in beta as we continue to test and expand our supported languages.
Set your transcription language and preferences
You may be prompted to set the transcription language. This is set to Auto by default and descript will do its best to automatically set the transcription language. Learn more about importing and transcribing files. You can change your transcription language and toggle on or off Always ask before transcribing from your App settings.
Re-transcribing after choosing incorrect language
If you accidentally had the wrong language selected during transcription, you can manually choose the transcription language and re-transcribe the file.
Here's how to re-transcribe a file:
- Click on Project on the right-hand side of Descript. Make sure you're looking at the Files section.
- Select
ellipsis button to the right of the file name.
- Select Re-transcribe.
- Select your transcription language if desired.
- Click Done to re-transcribe your file in the selected language.
Unsupported multi-language features
There are a few notable features that are only supported for English transcription:
- Detect transcription errors
- Filler word detection - Filler words are not included in automatic transcripts other than English.
- AI Speakers
- Import transcript
- Replace transcript
- Transcription glossary
Inverse Text Normalization (ITN)
ITN is only supported in English, French, and Spanish. ITN is the programming logic that translates numbers to common-use formats (for example, converting "Nineteen Forty-Five" into "1945").
Translation and multi-language files
- Descript will only transcribe one language. We currently do not support transcription for files with multiple languages.
- If you need to translate one of your scripts. You can use Underlord to translate it.
