This page will guide you through some of the most common issues using our export destination and how to resolve them.
Check if your files are finished uploading
Your project files may still be syncing to your project. Be sure to check if your project is finished syncing. Once fully synced and saved, try to re-export your project.
Try exporting your project locally first
Try using the Local export destination with video export or audio export options. If the project exports successfully, re-import the exported file into a new project or composition and then export t the newly created project or composition using the Descript (web link) destination.
My audio or video plays back correctly in Descript but is not in sync after exporting to a Descript (web link)
Try using the Repair video timestamps option on any files that appear out of sync. Repairing video timestamps can help if a specific file is causing issues with playback, exporting, audio drift, and more.
If this does not help, you can try using the Local export destination in the video export or audio export options. If the project exports successfully, re-import the exported file into a new project or composition and then export the newly created project or composition using the Descript (web link) destination.
Emoji are not rendering correctly on an exported video
Be sure you are following our guide for adding emojis as seen here: Text, emojis, and captions.
You may find on occasion that an emoji character doesn't render properly in your exported video. It's important to note that no emojis are supported in the Descript (web link) export destination or cloud exports; they will only render correctly in exports using Local export as the destination.
You can work around this current limitation by searching for a .PNG image of the emoji and adding that as a layer in your project. This should render correctly in your exported project without any issues.
I can not export my video project to Buzzsprout
You can try the following steps to get your project imported into Buzzsprout:
You can export video projects using the Buzzsprout integration. However, Buzzsprout only uses the audio portion of your video. If you're working with large video projects, they might fail to export altogether. Converting your composition to audio-only before exporting will help you avoid issues exporting to Buzzsprout from Descript.

This error can appear if Descript has not been given permission to manage videos on your YouTube account when you initially signed in. Try following the steps below to resolve this:
- Click the Export button in the top right corner of your composition.
- Click Switch accounts, then click Sign in to YouTube.
- Check all the boxes, then click Continue.
- Try Exporting to YouTube again, and it should work.
