Once Descript is connected to ChatGPT, you can run your workflow from a chat: import media, edit with Underlord, manage projects, and publish. Before getting started

  • Connecting to ChatGPT requires a ChatGPT account on a plan that supports apps and connectors. Sign in at chatgpt.com before you start.
  • Enterprise or Team workspace admins may need to enable third-party connectors in ChatGPT workspace settings before the Descript app appears.

Add Descript to ChatGPT

Install from the ChatGPT app marketplace
Installing from the app marketplace is the fastest way to connect Descript to ChatGPT.
  1. In ChatGPT, open the app marketplace or go directly to the Descript app listing.
  2. Click to add the Descript plugin.
  3. Sign into Descript when prompted, then click Allow to grant ChatGPT access. The MCP connects to whichever Descript Drive you’re currently logged into.
  4. You’ll be redirected back to ChatGPT. Descript now appears under your connected apps.

Upload files from your device

Use the Descript panel in ChatGPT to upload supported audio and video files from your computer.
  1. Open Descript from ChatGPT’s sidebar to show the upload panel.
  2. Click Choose file and select the file from your device.
  3. Wait for the import to finish, then ask ChatGPT for the edit you want, such as “Remove filler words from the video I just uploaded to Descript.”
  4. Click Open in Descript to continue editing in the Descript editor.
The first upload in a new panel creates a project. Additional uploads in that panel go into the same project.
