Once Descript is connected to ChatGPT, you can run your whole workflow from a chat: import media, edit with Underlord, manage projects, and publish. Before getting started

  • Connecting to ChatGPT requires a ChatGPT account on a plan that supports apps/connectors (Plus or higher). Make sure you’re signed in to ChatGPT at chatgpt.com before going through the steps below.
  • Enterprise or Team workspace admins may need to enable third-party connectors in their ChatGPT workspace settings before the Descript app appears.

Connect from the ChatGPT app marketplace

Installing directly from the ChatGPT app marketplace is the fastest way to connect Descript to ChatGPT.
  1. In ChatGPT, open the app marketplace or go directly to the Descript app listing.
  2. Click to add the Descript connector.
  3. Sign into Descript when prompted, then click Allow to grant ChatGPT access. The MCP connects to whichever Descript Drive you’re currently logged into.
  4. You’ll be redirected back to ChatGPT. Descript now appears under your connected apps.
To test the connection, try a prompt like: “Create a new Descript project called ‘Test’ and generate a short video about morning coffee.”
