Descript's Script Editor is the the best tool for quickly editing your content and is just as intuitive to use as a word processor. This view is perfect for:
- Editing and organizing your media
- Preparing your transcripts for export, audiograms, captions and more!
- Annotate and style your text
Edits made in the script are automatically synced to the timeline view, and vice versa.
To add a speaker label, click on the field to the left of each paragraph and type the speaker's name or type a new name to add it to your list of speakers.
Filler Word Detection/Removal
Eliminate pesky filler words like 'um' and 'uh' by right-clicking on the dotted words and choosing either Ignore (remove from the Timeline, but strikeout in the Script) or Delete (remove from the Timeline and the Script). You can later use the Trim tool to re-expand any removed audio.
Markers are like bookmarks or headers for your transcript. They're also handy for navigation, because you can instantly jump between them.
Notes are a way you can insert non-speech annotations (like a cough, laugh, or stage direction) inline in your Composition without messing up the text/audio sync or taking up space in the Timeline.
Insert Inline Notes by clicking the left parenthesis and then typing your note.
Descript's commenting features make it easy to annotate your transcript. Add a comment by selecting a range of text, and clicking the + button at the top of the screen. Add your comments on the right sidebar, then Post when complete.
With Placeholder Text, you can add freeform text into your composition which is great for narration. Placeholder text also takes up space in your timeline to emulate a standard speaking rate of 180 words per minute.
Highlights allow you to mark sections of your text in various colors for later reference. You can even copy your highlighted text and paste into a new composition when complete.
