After Descript transcribes your recording, you'll likely want to fix any misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, or add words Descript may have missed during transcription. Descript’s suite of correct tools allows for editing the transcript without impacting the underlying media. This article will go over how to correct your transcript without changing the underlying audio or video.

Fix incorrect words
When Descript transcribes a word incorrectly or misses a word entirely, you can fix the transcript without changing your audio.
- Double-click the word/adjacent word you want to adjust
- Click Correct in the hover toolbar (or press
C) - Type the correct word
- Choose:
- Correct — Fix only this instance
- Correct All — Fix every instance of this word in your project
After you make a correction, Descript automatically re-analyzes your media to adjust to the correction. You'll see a dotted gray underline while Descript checks the alignment.
Make edits in bulk with Correct mode
- Press
Opt+C(Mac) orAlt+C(Windows) to enter Correct text mode - Click any word and type your correction — no need to click Correct each time
- Press
Opt+CorAlt+Cagain to exit Correct text mode
Fix punctuation and capitalization
Correct up to 100 characters at once with these keyboard shortcuts:
- Hold
Z+ click to toggle capitalization (lowercase → Sentence case → UPPERCASE) - Hold
X+ click to cycle through punctuation (period → comma → no punctuation) - Press
