Adding stock media to your project

Descript includes free access to millions of premium stock videos, images, sound effects, and music tracks. In this guide, we'll show you how to incorporate stock media into your projects.

How to add stock media

  1. Open a project and find a spot in your project where you'd like to add some stock media.
  2. Click the + icon to the left of your script to open the add layer panel, or open the Media library icon.png Media library at the top of the editor.
  3. Select Video, GIFs, Images, or Audio depending on the type of stock media you want to add.
  4. Search for the stock media you want to add. Hover over video's thumbnail or click the playback button next to any audio you want to preview it.
  5. Once you find the perfect piece of stock media, click on it or drag it into your script to add it to the project.
Adding stock media to an empty scene

If you are working on a video project and you add stock media as a layer to a scene with no video or audio in the script track, your scene's length will extend to match the length of the stock media.
