How to add a file to your project

There are a few different ways to upload files to your projects in Descript.

How to upload files from your computer

Sometimes you may want to add files to your project from your computer without transcribing them. This is useful for images, music, and B-roll video. Here's how to do that:

  1. Click the Project panel on the right side of your project.
  2. Click the Upload button.
  3. Select the files you want to upload from your Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows).
  4. Click Open.
  5. Your files will appear in the Files section of the Project panel. You can then click and drag them onto the canvas, script, or timeline where you want to add them to the composition.

How to import files from Zoom

  1. Click the Project panel on the right side of your project.
  2. Click the (Add files) button at the top of the Files section.
  3. Select the Import from Zoom option.
  4. Sign into Zoom if necessary, and allow permissions when prompted.
  5. Select the Zoom recordings you want to import.
  6. Click Import.
  7. Your Zoom files will be added to the script and transcribed automatically.

How to import videos from YouTube

  1. Click the Project panel on the right side of your project.
  2. Click the (Add files) button at the top of the Files section.
  3. Select the Import from YouTube option.
  4. Paste in the YouTube link.
  5. Click Add file.
  6. Your YouTube video will be added to the script and transcribed automatically.
