Why has my account been charged?

If you received a charge from Descript and you are unsure what it’s for, we’re here to help. This article discusses the various charges you may receive from Descript. If you would like to reverse a charge, please see our refund policy. To avoid any unexpected future charges, make sure to cancel your subscription.

Do you have multiple accounts?

Users occasionally report unexpected charges from Descript, only to realize that they had made accounts under multiple email address. Please verify your subscription status with any additional email addresses.

Understanding and recognizing Descript charges

You can see a list of recent and upcoming charges by viewing your invoice history. These charges may include:

  • Subscriptions — Descript subscriptions renew automatically each month or year unless canceled.
  • Drive members and additional transcription Adding additional drive members or increasing your monthly transcription limit for your plan increases your subscription cost. These charges will be itemized on your subscription invoice.
  • One-Time Boost Transcription Hours — We can add hours as a one-time boost to your account at a rate of $2.50 per hour. A one-time boost can be requested by contacting our support team.

Overage charges

Customers who regularly exceed their monthly transcription rate limit are subject to a $0.05 per minute overage charge. We will notify you of any overage charges via email.
