API endpoints - Descript Help Center

All endpoints live under https://descriptapi.com/v1 and take a personal API token in the Authorization header. Import, agent edit, and publish run as background jobs: each returns a job_id right away, which you poll with Get job status or receive at a callback_url. The full specification is available as OpenAPI JSON.

Import and edit

Endpoint	Description
`POST /jobs/import/project_media`	Import media into a new or existing project and create compositions.
`POST /jobs/agent`	Create or edit a project from a natural-language prompt, run by Underlord.
`GET /agent/models`	List the agent models available to `POST /jobs/agent` and the aliases that resolve to them.

Publish and export

Endpoint	Description
`POST /jobs/publish`	Publish a composition to a shareable link and get download URLs for the rendered file.
`POST /export/transcript`	Export a composition’s transcript.

Jobs

Endpoint	Description
`GET /jobs/{job_id}`	Get the status and result of any job.
`GET /jobs`	List recent jobs, filtered by project or job type.
`DELETE /jobs/{job_id}`	Cancel a running job.

Projects and search

Endpoint	Description
`GET /projects`	List the projects in the token’s Drive.
`GET /projects/{project_id}`	Get a project’s media files, compositions, and existing publishes.
`GET /search`	Search project, folder, and media names, composition text, and transcripts across the Drive.

Status

Endpoint	Description
`GET /status`	Check that the API is up and your token is valid.

Partner endpoints

These require partner access. See Edit in Descript and Export from Descript.

Endpoint	Description
`POST /edit_in_descript/schema`	Create an import URL that opens your user’s media in Descript.
`GET /published_projects/{publishedProjectSlug}`	Get metadata for a published project by its URL slug.
