Import files from other projects

Import media files directly from other Descript projects without re-uploading or consuming additional media minutes. This feature allows you to easily reuse the same intros, background footage, music tracks, b-roll, and more across multiple videos or podcasts.

Additionally, when you import a file that's already had an effect applied (like Studio Sound, Eye Contact, or Green Screen), you won't be charged again—you're only charged once when the effect is first applied. Learn more about Media minutes and AI Credit costs.

Before getting started

Keep in mind:

  • You need Editor access to a project to import files from it. You cannot import files from projects that you only have Viewer access to. Learn more about Drive member roles.
  • Files can only be imported from projects within your current Drive. You cannot import files from projects on another Drive.
