Troubleshooting transcript alignment issues

Sometimes, the words in your transcript might not align perfectly with the audio. While Descript generally provides good alignment, issues can occur due to audio quality, background noise, or multiple languages spoken. In some cases, Descript will mark these alignment issues with a sold red underline. For example:

Common Issues with Transcription Alignment

  • Accuracy: Descript’s transcription is up to 95% accurate with high-quality audio files.
  • Manual Fixes: You can manually fix most alignment issues:
    • Use The Wordbar to adjust alignment.
    • Correct your transcript using the guidance found here.
  • Force Fix Corrupted Alignment: If you see red underlines, try using the “Force Fix Corrupted Alignment” option under Help > Debug > Force Fix Corrupted Alignment.
  • Re-Align Words in Range: You can also use the Re-Align Words in Range feature for better alignment.
  • Re-Transcribe File: Re-transcribing the file often resolves alignment issues.
  • SquadCast Repair Feature: If your file is recorded and imported from SquadCast, try using the repair file feature.
