Descript Labs lets you try early access features before they’re officially released. These features are still in development, so their quality may vary — but we encourage you to experiment and share your feedback to help shape them.
Labs features are enabled per user. Turning a Labs feature on only affects your own Descript account, not all members of your Drive.
How to access a Descript Labs feature
- Open Settings > General.
- From the Drive View, click the profile icon in the top left corner of the window, then select Settings.
- From within a Descript project, click the menu in the top left corner, and select Settings. In the Labs section, turn on or off the features you would like to try out.

New timeline
The updated Timeline in Descript brings a cleaner layout, improved tool organization, and a more focused editing experience designed to help you work faster with fewer distractions. This refresh introduces a streamlined interface and better grouping of timeline tools, making it easier to manage your layers and script edits.

Underlord beta AI co-editor
Descript’s AI co-editor is a smarter, more collaborative way to write, edit, and explore ideas across your script. The new Underlord gives you a dedicated chat experience, supports full-script edits, and helps automate your creative workflow.

New Underlord v2
We rebuilt Underlord's core to make it more reliable, capable, and fast. You'll get better quality results, improved performance, and lower costs—all with the same familiar interface. The improvements are mostly seamless; you'll notice Underlord handling your editing tasks with greater precision and speed.
Mobile upload
Use a QR code to upload audio, video, or images straight into your project’s Files panel—ready to transcribe or edit. Enable mobile upload in Labs, and then give our Upload media from your phone to Descript guide a read.
Sharing your feedback
You can leave us feedback about a Descript Labs feature by clicking Leave Feedback at the bottom of under the Labs section in Settings.
