Upload audio, video, or image files saved on your computer directly into a Descript project. Drag files directly into the script to upload and transcribe in one step, or manually upload them into the Project panel for later use.
Descript works with most common audio, video, image, and document types. See supported file types
Video colors look washed out or overly vivid after upload?
This can happen with HDR footage, especially videos recorded on iPhone or other cameras that use HDR by default. Learn how to fix color problems when importing HDR videos into Descript.
Option 1: Upload and transcribe in one step
The fastest way to add content is to create a new Descript project (or open an existing one), then drag a file directly from Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) into the script panel. This uploads the file and immediately starts transcription.
Option 2: Upload to the Files panel
If you want to upload media without transcribing right away, add it to your project files via the Upload button. When using these steps, your media is uploaded to your project but not transcribed.
- Create a new Descript project, or open an existing one.
- Click the Project panel in the right-hand sidebar.
- Click the Upload button at the top of the Project panel.
- Select the files you want to upload from your Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows).
- Click the Open button to add the file to your project.
