Descript offers discounted pricing for non-profit organizations and members of educational institutions — including students, teachers, administrators, and academic staff. This special plan is for qualifying users who are producing content for classrooms, research, school programs, or non-commercial purposes under a recognized 501(c)(3) or equivalent not-for-profit status.
The Non-Profit / Education plan includes the same features as our Hobbyist plan, with a reduced rate and monthly transcription limit. If you're part of a nonprofit, charity, school, or university, you may be eligible.
At this time, we do not offer a discount for Creator-level features. If you're looking for more features or transcription time, one of our standard plans may be a better fit. Visit our pricing page to compare your options.

How to apply
- Create a free Descript account using the email associated with your non-profit or educational institution.
- Add a payment method to your account at web.descript.com/view/settings/account (you won’t be charged yet).
- Fill out the application form. A team member will follow up after reviewing your submission.
How to switch your plan after approval
- Sign in to Descript from the app or web.
- Click your Drive selector in the top left, then select Settings.
- Select the Subscription tab. If you have more than one Drive, make sure you've selected the correct one.
- Click Change plan next to your current plan.
- Choose any plan and billing cycle — you’ll update it to the EDU/NFP plan on the next screen.
- On the final screen, switch the plan to EDU/NFP. You can also adjust seat count, transcription limits, or update your payment method if needed. Click Save changes when you're ready.
