# Custom Fonts

> Add custom fonts from Google Fonts or your own files to your Descript drive.

Bring your brand's typefaces into Descript from Google Fonts or your own `.ttf`/`.otf` files. Fonts added to a drive are available to everyone on it, in captions, text clips, and layout packs.

Custom fonts are added at the Drive level. If you work across multiple Drives, you'll need to add fonts to each one separately.

Business and Enterprise users can also organize custom fonts in **Brand Studio**. [Learn more about Brand Studio.](/branding/brand-studio)

<Warning>
  **Removing custom fonts**

  Descript does not currently support removing custom fonts from a Drive.

## Add a custom font

Search for a Google Font directly in Descript, browse Google's font library in a separate tab, or upload your own font file.

1. [Add a text layer](/visuals/text-layers) to your composition, then select it in the scene editor.
2. In the right-hand sidebar, select the [Properties panel](/descript-tour/properties-panel), click the **Font** dropdown menu, then click the **cloud** icon next to the search field to **add fonts to Drive**.
3. Choose how to add your font:
   * **Search for a Google Font:** Type a font name, select it, and click **Add to Drive**.
   * **Browse Google Fonts:** Click **Browse Google Fonts** to view Google’s library in a new tab. When you find a font, return to Descript, search for it by name, and click **Add to Drive**.
   * **Upload a custom font:** Click **Upload a custom font** and select `.ttf`, `.otf`, or `.woff` files from your computer.

<Warning>
  **Seeing a "remove failed fonts to continue" error?**

  This error appears when you add a font that shares a name with one already in your drive.

  To work around this issue, rename the font: click into the name field at the top of the Add fonts window and type a new name (for example, rename "Montserrat" to "Montserrat 2").
