# Switch from Riverside to Descript

> Import a Riverside recording, record yourself, or record with guests in Descript Rooms. Then edit and export an episode to see how Descript fits your workflow.

## Create your Descript account

If you haven't already, [Create your Descript account](/getting-started/create-account) and choose a plan. See our [pricing page](https://www.descript.com/pricing) for a full side-by-side comparison to find a plan that fits your needs.

## Get content into a new Descript project

**Import existing files**

Import your existing files when you've already recorded outside of Descript, and you're ready to edit your content, create clips, or add branding.

1. [Download your recordings from Riverside](https://support.riverside.com/hc/en-us/articles/5260432295581-Download-high-quality-tracks). Choose [aligned participant tracks](https://support.riverside.com/hc/en-us/articles/6518046195613-What-is-the-difference-between-an-aligned-track-and-a-raw-track) when available to preserve the recording's timing and edit speakers individually, or a finished audio/video file for additional cuts or clips.
2. In Descript, [create a new project](/getting-started/create-a-new-project).
3. [Import your tracks](/getting-started/import-overview) to your new project. If you imported separate participant tracks, [combine them into a sequence](/script-editing/create-a-sequence) so they play together and stay together when you edit.

**Record yourself**

Record directly into a new Descript project.

1. [Create a new project](/getting-started/create-a-new-project).
2. Find the **Record** menu near the bottom of the editor window, then select your recording setup:
   * Audio-only
   * Camera
   * Screen recording
3. When you finish recording, Descript [automatically transcribes](/script-editing/automatic-transcription) your spoken audio. You'll see the transcript populate in the left pane (the "script panel").

**Record with others**

Use Descript Rooms to create a remote recording session. Each guest is recorded to an individual track for easy editing.

1. From the **Drive view**, click **Record** in the top-right corner, then select **Record with others**. Follow the [Rooms host guide](/record/host-guide) to set up your session and invite guests.
2. [Record](/record/record-in-a-descript-room) your Rooms session.
3. After recording, Descript [automatically transcribes](/script-editing/automatic-transcription) each track, puts it into a [sequence](/script-editing/multi-track-sequences-overview), and adds it to the script panel for editing.

After adding your content to a Descript project, you're ready to move forward.

## Edit your episode

Descript is a text-based editor, so you'll edit your video by editing the text in the script panel, just like Riverside. To cut a part of the content, select the corresponding text in the script panel, then hit **Delete**. Use [**Ignore**](/script-editing/delete-vs-ignore) to cross out text and skip it during playback while keeping it visible in your script.
