# Elgato Cam Link with DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras Settings

> Connect a DSLR or mirrorless camera to SquadCast using an Elgato Cam Link.

To use a DSLR or mirrorless camera with SquadCast, you'll need a capture device and cable to connect it to your computer, like an [Elgato Cam Link 4K](https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/cam-link-4k).

1. Power your camera on. We highly recommend wired and not battery power for long recording sessions.
2. Plug the Mini-HDMI connector into your camera's Mini-HDMI port.
3. Plug the HDMI connector into the Elgato Cam Link's HMDI port.
4. Plug the Elgato Cam Link's USB connector into your computer's USB port.
5. [Start a recording session](/squadcast/new-session) on SquadCast, or join an existing session as the [Host](/squadcast/join-session) or as a [Guest](/squadcast/join-session).
6. Select the [Elgato Cam Link 4k](/squadcast/new-session) as your camera in the Green Room.

<Warning>
  **Set frame rate**

  Make sure to set your camera and Elgato Cam Link frame rate to 30fps for the best results.
