Descript doesn’t have a built-in teleprompter, but you can use Write mode and the editor recorder to read from your script while looking into the camera.
Follow these steps to achieve a teleprompter-like experience:
-
Open a new Descript project.
-
Then, create your script. You have a few options available to add your script:
-
Use Underlord’s Write a script tool.
-
If you already have a script, copy it from your text editor and paste it into the script panel on the left.
-
Or, enable Write mode and type your script directly into the script panel. Note: you may want to refrain from adding a speaker label, as adding a label will initiate AI text-to-speech generation. This text will appear as scratch text (light blue) because there’s no recorded audio linked yet.
-
- Choose your camera and mic, then click Record. Record yourself reading your script from the Descript window.
- By default, Descript records directly into the script. You can also choose to make a selection and use the replace selection functionality within the Recorder. Learn more about your recording options.
-
When you stop recording, Descript will automatically process your recording and either add it to the script or replace the scratch text with your recorded video and audio.
