You can replace media in Descript without losing edits, captions, or other adjustments using the Replace Media option. This is useful for updating content without starting from scratch.
The replace media option is only available for non-script layers.
Using the Scene Editor Toolbar for Replacing Media
The Scene Editor Toolbar provides additional tools for managing media replacement:
- Click on the media you want to replace in the Scene editor.
- Look for the Replace button in the toolbar at the top of the Scene editor.
-
Click it to choose something to replace your media with.
Using the Right-Click Menu for Replacing Media
-
Click on the media clip in the Timeline or Scene editor that you want to replace. Once again, this will not work on the script layer/track.
-
Right-click on the selected clip and choose Replace Media, or after selecting the clip, go to the top menu under Edit > Replace Media.
-
Select the new content you want to take the place of the original.
Replacing Media from the Layer Panel
You can also replace media directly from the Layer Panel:
-
Select the Layer Panel from the right-side menu.
-
Find the media layer you want to replace.
-
Click the three-dot menu next to the layer.
-
Choose Replace Media and select a new file.
