A newly joined Room
Once you've joined a Room as the first participant and the owner, you can continue to adjust and configure the session. Your video feed will display your name and a VU meter to show your voice level, giving you visual feedback on your audio input. At the bottom, you'll find controls to record, adjust, and/or mute your mic or video, start a screen share, and leave the Room.
You will also have the option to switch between Gallery and Speaker view to customize how participants appear on your screen. Additionally, you can toggle the aspect ratio (16:9 or 1:1) to adjust how the Room appears to you. Adjusting these settings will not affect any of your recordings.
Inviting participants
When you are ready, on the right will be the option to copy a link and invite others to join the Room, making it easy to bring in participants and get started.
-
Click the Copy link button, or you can click Invite in the top right corner to copy the room link.
-
Share the link with participants who will see a request to join.
Once users start to join your room, you can copy the link again by clicking Invite at the top right.
Approving participants
When a participant clicks the link you have shared with them, they will get the same screen you did when setting up your Room. They will be able to adjust their video and audio. When ready, they simply have to click Request to join.
Once the request is made, the participant must wait for the host to let them in. While they wait, they will see a screen like this:
The Room host will get a visual and audible notification to approve the participant. Please note that there will be no audible notification while actively recording. Click the green check mark to let the user in or the red X to deny the user entry.
You can also see all join requests in the people tab.
If a user is approved, they will instantly join the room. If denied, they will be informed that their request to join was denied.
Managing participants
Once a participant has joined your Room, you will have a few options to help manage the Room. Under the People tab, you will be able to view all participants who are currently in the room.
You can Pin the participant or Remove a participant from a Room using the drop-down menu. Note that pinning a participant will only affect your view of the Room.
You can also make adjustments to yourself via the same menu. These include things like muting your microphone, turning off your camera, changing your name, hiding your own camera view, and pinning your camera view. From here, you can also help frame up your shot by turning on the grid or center yourself overlays.
Note: When you hide yourself, it will not affect the recorded video. It helps you save device resources by not showing your video yourself. These settings are also available by clicking the three dots on your camera preview.
The Room's chat
Access the Chat panel to send messages to everyone in the Room. The chat can be used for general communication, sharing links, or providing instructions.
Note that chat messages are not retained before, during, or after the session ends. Use the chat for real-time communication during the recording session.
When using the chat, you can use a colon ( : ) followed by an emoji name to send an emoji.
You can also type /giphy followed by a search term to send a GIF. Once you add a search term, you will be shown a preview, and you can either send it with Send, view the next GIF found under that search term using the regenerate icon, or cancel sending the GIF by clicking the X.
