Troubleshooting network issues in SquadCast

If you happen to encounter difficulties with your network connection, it could affect your ability to maintain a stable connection, record audio within the browser, and seamlessly upload recordings to the cloud in real-time.

Closing other browsers and browser tabs to keep SquadCast the focus tab while recording. Opening other windows or tabs while recording starts a new process within the browser. If the network is very challenging, it may have an effect on the browser's ability to upload files while recording.

It is recommended that you leave SquadCast as the focused tab while recording because the browser throttles background tabs, which can result in dropped frames and, therefore, a/v de-synch.

Restart computers if the challenge continues. You shouldn't need to do this all the time, but it can really help stabilize network conditions. Also, you could try using an incognito tab in Chrome to anonymize browsing from active extensions/apps that may be in use. Or a different browser, the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Brave, Safari, and Edge all support SquadCast.

We don’t recommend connecting to SquadCast using a VPN, Enterprise, Shared, Government, College, Bank & or Medical networks/computer/devices. These are highly controlled environments that can block connectivity & recording functionality in SquadCast. However, we are happy to work with network admins. Below is a list of addresses and details to allow access through firewalls in enterprise environments.

The public-facing information Website is accessible by navigating to https://squadcast.fm. The public-facing Web App is accessible by navigating to the subdomain https://app.squadcast.fm. Our top-level domain name is .fm, which is a nod to terrestrial radio, is not a reflection of our geographic location and is registered with dotFM.

To ensure customers within an enterprise network always connect to SquadCast services, we provide network admins with a list of protocols and domains to configure access in their firewall or VPN.
