Network Connectivity & Security

Connectivity

The strength & quality of your or your guest's internet connection matters most to keep you connected. SquadCast does not provide internet connectivity. We help establish your connection with your guests, but the ISPs keep you connected beyond that initial connection. If anyone is disconnected from the session more than once, we recommend the following:

  1. Keeping SquadCast as the focused tab in your browser because the background tab's connectivity can be throttled
  2. Toggling the Camera Off because video uses more network bandwidth than audio
  3. Reconnecting from an Incognito tab is a quick way to disable browser extensions because they can throttle connectivity
  4. Restarting the computer & resetting the WiFi router can help to stabilize the connection
  5. Asking other people on the network to disconnect prioritizes your connection
  6. Plugging into ethernet instead of WiFi reduces latency & can help to stabilize the connection
  7. Running a network speed test will help shed light on your network status
  8. Contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is helpful to inspect your network status

Speeds

We require a minimum of 5 Mbps upload and download. We strongly recommend 10 Mbps upload & download or higher for the best experience.

Disconnections

SquadCast never intentionally removes, boots, or kicks out anyone from a recording session; we go to great lengths to connect you & keep you connected. If someone disconnects from a session, the app detects it, notifies them & suggests improvements to avoid it happening future-forward.

Security

We don’t recommend connecting to SquadCast using a VPN, Enterprise, Shared, Government, College, Bank, or Medical networks, computer, or devices. These are highly controlled environments that can block connectivity and recording functionality in SquadCast. If you find yourself in need of more detailed networking information, you can find that here: Troubleshooting network issues in SquadCast.
