Make the most out of your video editing experience by bending the scene editor to your will. Whether working on layers exclusively, or just the script, the following actions will help put the scene editor right where you need it.
Changing scene editor position
The scene editor can either sit above or to the right of the Script editor. To change the scene editor position, open the menu and click View > Move scene editor, or press Command + Option + Shift + V
(macOS) or Control + Alt + Shift + V
(Windows).
If your editor window is too small however, the scene editor will be automatically positioned above the script regardless of the move setting, so make sure to expand your window size to allow for sufficient space.
Changing scene editor size
To increase the size of the scene editor while positioned above the script, move your mouse to the boundary between the scene editor area and the script, then click and drag the boundary line up or down.
To increase the size of the scene editor while positioned to the right of the script, move your mouse to the boundary between the scene editor area and the script, then click and drag the boundary line left or right.
It's also important to note that the scene editor is responsive, so the larger the window, the larger the scene editor can become. Likewise if the app window is very small, the scene editor will automatically shrink down to accommodate the smaller size.
Expanding the scene editor
The scene editor can also be expanded by clicking the expand scene editor box at the top right of the scene editor area, or by clicking Command + .
(macOS) or Control + .
(Windows). This will automatically hide the Script editor panel providing additional room for a larger scene editor area. Repeat the step to shrink the scene editor and display the script again.
Note that you can still show and hide the Timeline in the expanded view.
Hiding the scene editor
If you'd like to hide the scene editor completely, you can do so by opening the Descript menu then click View > Hide scene editor, or click Command + Option
+ V
(macOS) or Control + Alt + V
(Windows). Repeat to show the scene editor again.
