Resizing and positioning the Canvas

Make the most out of your video editing experience by bending the Canvas to your will. Whether working on layers exclusively, or just the script, the following actions will help put the Canvas right where you need it.

Changing Canvas position

The Canvas can either sit above or to the right of the Script editor. To change the Canvas position, open the menu and click View > Move canvas, or press Command + Option + Shift + V (macOS) or Control + Alt + Shift + V (Windows).

Consideration for window size

If your editor window is too small however, the Canvas will be automatically positioned above the script regardless of the move setting, so make sure to expand your window size to allow for sufficient space.

Changing Canvas size

To increase the size of the Canvas while positioned above the script, move your mouse to the boundary between the Canvas area and the script, then click and drag the boundary line up or down.

It's also important to note that the Canvas is responsive, so the larger the window, the larger the Canvas can become. Likewise if the app window is very small, the Canvas will automatically shrink down to accommodate the smaller size.

Expanding the Canvas

The Canvas can also be expanded by clicking the expand Canvas box at the top right of the Canvas area, or by clicking Command + . (macOS) or Control + . (Windows). This will automatically hide the Script editor panel providing additional room for a larger Canvas area. Repeat the step to shrink the Canvas and display the script again.

Note that you can still show and hide the Timeline in the expanded view.
