Descript periodically creates backup files of your projects, which can be accessed if a project becomes corrupted or data is lost. You can access, create, and import project backups in a project by selecting > Help & feedback > Debug.
Accessing project backups on the desktop
- Open the project.
- At the top of your screen, select > Help & feedback > Debug > Open folder > Open Project Folder.
- Here, you will see a list of project backup files in the format: "Project Backup 1.debackup", "Project Backup 2.debackup", etc.
Manually creating project backups on the desktop
- Open the project.
- At the top of your screen, select > Help & feedback > Debug > Export project backup...
- Select the location on your computer where you want to save the backup file. We recommend saving the file to your desktop so you can easily retrieve it.
- Select Save.
Accessing project backups on the web
Please note:
Backups for projects edited on the web version of Descript are not stored locally and will permanently disappear if browser storage is cleared.
- Open the project.
- At the top of your screen, select > Help & feedback > Debug > View automatic backups
- Here, you will see a list of project backup files in the format: "Project Backup 1.debackup", "Project Backup 2.debackup", etc.
- Click the download icon to download the backup file.
Importing a project backup into Descript
- Open or create a new project.
- At the top of your screen, select > Help & feedback > Debug > Import project backup...
- Locate and select the backup file, and click Import.
Important Note:
Backup files can only be imported if the original project still exists in your workspace. The backup files cannot be used if the original project has been deleted.
