If you created your account using Sign up with Google and sign in by selecting Sign in with Google, you created your account with Google Auth.
If you want to remove Google Auth or change your email, you'll need to change your account to sign in with a username and password; then, you can change the account email address. Here's how:
Removing Google Auth
- Sign into your account from the app or the web, then select your profile picture in the top right corner of the Drive view.
- Select Settings.
- Go to the profile tab and choose Set Up.
- You will see a popup letting you know the next steps. Noted in the popup, please write down the email address listed on the prompt (you'll need it shortly), then click Logout in the prompt to continue.
- Once you click Log out, you will be logged out of Descript and taken to the Sign in/Sign up page. At the top of the window, click Sign up. Enter the same email address for your account, choose a strong password, and enter your name before clicking the next icon.
- You'll see a prompt to link the new email and password account to your existing account. Press Link accounts.
- You will then be taken to sign into your Google account, if you are not already. Once you have logged into your Google account. You will be directed to the drive view in Descript.
- Once again, select your profile picture in the top right corner of the Drive view and select Settings.
- Go to the profile tab and select Remove Google under the Sign-in methods.
- Press Remove in the prompt panel to continue unblinking your Google account.
Changing your email
Now that you've removed Google Auth, you can easily change the email address associated with your account.
- Click in the email text box and type in the email address you want to use. Once you have entered your new email address, click Update at the bottom right of the settings panel.
And you're all set! The next time you sign in, you'll use your new email address and password.
