You can adjust your composition's aspect ratio, increase or decrease frame rate (FPS), and adjust the video resolution by selecting the box icon in the top left corner of the scene editor.
When you add media to a new Composition, the aspect ratio will automatically adjust to the nearest standard option unless the first file is a Recording, in which case the aspect ratio will match the recording. You can adjust to a custom aspect ratio anytime using the steps below.
From the dropdown menu, you can set your aspect ratio to Landscape, Square, Portrait, or choose Other. Choosing Other will open a new window where you can further customize your video settings.
Here is a list of things you will be able to adjust:
Settings | |
---|---|
Frame rate (FPS) | Set FPS to 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, or 60. |
Video resolution | You can select your video resolution from the dropdown panel at the top left corner: 720p, 1080p, 1440p, or 4K. |
Aspect ratio | You can set your video composition’s aspect ratio to square (1:1), vertical (9:16), horizontal (16:9), or a custom ratio. |
While Descript supports exports of up to 4k resolution, it's important to note that the actual resolution of exported videos depends on the quality of the imported media.
For example, if you import a video at 1080p resolution but later export it at 4k resolution, Descript will not up-sample the video quality, and the resulting file will still appear 1080p.
