Descript offers a Non-profit Organization / Education plan for $5 per user per month ($60 annually). This plan includes the same plan-level features as our Hobbyist plan with a 4-hour monthly transcription rate limit.
There are no discounted subscriptions for Creator-level features at this time.
While this plan offers our lowest monthly subscription price, one of our standard plans may be a better fit depending on how much transcription you're doing. Please have a look at our pricing page for details.
Who qualifies for discounted pricing
- Non-profit organizations that hold a valid charitable status qualify.
- Any members of accredited educational institutions are welcome to apply:
- Students
- Educators
- Administrators
How to apply for the NP/EDU subscription
- Create a free Descript account using the email address associated with your non-profit organization or educational institution.
- Add a credit card to your Billing details by visiting https://web.descript.com/view/settings/account (you won't be charged yet).
- Fill out this application. Once reviewed, one of our team members will reach out with further details.
How to update your subscription once approved
- Sign into your account from the app or the web, then select your profile picture in the top right corner of the Drive view.
- Select
Settings.
- Select the Subscription tab. If you have multiple drives, make sure you select the drive you wish to upgrade.
- Select Change plan next to the name of your current plan.
- Select a plan and billing cycle. Note: it does not matter what plan you choose. You will update this selection to the non-profit/education plan on the next screen.
- Change the plan to EDU/NFP. If you want any additional paid seats or monthly transcription limits, you can adjust those here as well. If needed, you can also enter or update your payment information before selecting Save changes.
