Descript automatically syncs your projects to the cloud, but if you'd like to manage your disk space proactively you can remove local files from your computer.
To remove downloaded files associated with a project:
- Open the Drive View.
- Select the project options button
next to the project’s name and select Remove download.
Files that are being used in multiple projects will not be removed. This means the amount of space freed up when removing a downloaded project will not always reflect the size of the project you remove.
If you're using the web or desktop preview version of Descript, there's no need to worry about freeing up space on your local drive by removing projects. These versions use cloud-based processing and storage, keeping your drive space clear. In addition, the recorder on these versions also uploads as you record, ensuring minimal impact on your device's storage.
Remove download vs. delete project
Please note that removing a download is not the same as deleting your project. Removing the download only removes the local media files from your computer, whereas deleting a project will permanently delete the project, and it cannot be recovered.
