When you add media or apply a layout to the scene editor, it will only apply to the currently selected scene. This makes scenes useful for dividing the visuals of your composition into distinct sections.

• Dragging and dropping media into the scene editor will add that media to the active scene.
  
• Adding a layout onto the scene editor will apply the layout and add its media to the active scene.
