Markers help you organize your composition by breaking it into sections—like bookmarks or headers in your script. They’re also used as chapters when exporting your video and make it easy to jump between key points using the marker icon near the play button.
This article covers how to add, navigate, edit, and export markers—including how to use them as video chapters.
Add a marker
You can add a marker in several ways:
-
Type
#
on a blank line when no tool is active. - Use AI Actions and select Add Chapters.
- Click the Add marker icon from the … menu on a blank line.
Navigate between markers
Use the marker icon next to the play button to view and jump to any marker in your script. This opens a list of all markers, helping you quickly move between sections.
Move a marker
To reposition a marker, hover over it until the grabber icon appears. Click and hold to drag it to a new location. As you drag, script text will be highlighted—drop the marker where you'd like it to land.
Rename a marker
Click into the marker’s label and type to rename it.
Delete a marker
Highlight the marker in your script and press Delete on your keyboard.
Use markers as video chapters
When exporting a video, you can include markers as chapters in the exported file. This is useful for platforms that support chapter navigation, like podcast players or some media apps.
- Click Export in the top-right corner of your project.
- Select Local export as the destination.
- Toggle on the Metadata option.
- Click the settings icon next to Metadata and turn on Include markers as chapters.
For YouTube, you’ll still need to add chapters manually in the video description, as YouTube doesn’t currently support chapter detection from metadata.
