Project structure

Projects contain 3 main types of assets:

  • Compositions are where you edit and assemble — potentially even create — your content.
  • Project files contain the media files you will use in your compositions.  They include any audio or visuals you import into your project and the recordings you create directly in Descript.
  • Sequences are virtual containers used in compositions. Sequences allow you to align multiple media together so that the aligned media will stay in sync while you're editing. For example, sequences are useful if you have multiple speaker files from the same interview that need to be in sync.

It's important to note projects are self-contained; assets are not shared across projects.
