Organize and move projects in your Drive workspace

Keep your workspace tidy and your team organized by using folders and project management tools in Descript. This guide walks you through how to organize projects with folders, move them between drives and workspaces, and access helpful tools like rename, duplicate, and project sharing options—all directly from the Drive view.

Keep your Drive organized with folders

Use folders to organize your Descript projects by client, show, campaign, or however you work best. Folders make it easy to group related work and keep your Drive workspace clean and easy to navigate.

Create a folder

  1. From the Drive View, select the Drive workspace tab in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the New folder button in the top-right corner of the window.
  3. Name your folder and click Create Folder.

Move projects into a folder

  1. Click the three-dot menu next to the project you want to move.
  2. Select Move to and choose the destination folder.

Rename or delete a folder

  1. Click the three-dot menu next to the folder’s name.
  2. Select Rename or Delete.
Deleting folders

You must move or delete all projects inside a folder before you can delete the folder itself.

Star a folder to pin it to the sidebar

Click the star icon next to a folder name to pin it to the sidebar. Starred folders give you quick access to your most-used folders.

Move Projects and Folders in Your Drive

You can move projects and folders between locations within your Drive or Private workspace, depending on your role and access level.

Who can move what — and how it affects access
  • Drive owners and Editors can move projects and folders within the Drive workspace.
  • Basic members can only move items within their own Drive and Private workspace. They cannot move projects from the Private workspace to the Drive workspace.
  • Note: Folders cannot be moved into a Private workspace or between Drives.

Moving a project to your Private workspace removes access for other Drive members. Learn more about roles and permissions
