Use Scratch Text type freely in your Composition. Scratch Text is typically used as a way to compose voiceover or narration, and takes up space in your timeline to emulate a standard speaking rate (180 words per minute).
If you want to type in your Composition without taking up space in the timeline, use Notes.
How to add scratch text
There are three ways to insert scratch text:
- Type @ to bring up the Quick Insert dialog.
- From the app menu,
Insert > Scratch Text
- Use the keyboard shortcut: Mac
command + shift + E
