The action bar is your universal command bar in Descript. Use it to find tools, run actions, apply AI features, or navigate your project quickly — all from one place. Open the action bar either from the [AI Tools panel](/descript-tour/ai-tools-overview) in the right sidebar of any project, or by pressing `Command + K` (Mac) or `Ctrl + K` (Windows). The Search Actions toolbar in Descript's project editor Most of these options are also available from [the editor](/descript-tour/the-editor-interface) or [timeline](/timeline/timeline-overview), but the action bar is one of the fastest ways to explore what’s available and get things done. ## Common Actions | Action | Description | | --------------------------- | -------------------------------------- | | **Add custom font...** | Open the add fonts window | | **New Project** | Open the New Project window | | **Transcription glossary…** | Open the transcription glossary window | ### Editing | Action | Description | | -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Enter Correct mode** | Enable [Correct mode](/script-editing/correct-your-transcript) of the Script editor | | **Enter Write Mode** | Enable [Write mode](/ai-speech/write-mode) | | **Remove filler words...** | Open the list of detected filler words in the side panel. [Learn more about filler words](/script-editing/filler-words). | | **Remove ignored text** | Removes all ignored text from the script editor. [Edit like a doc](/getting-started/edit-like-a-doc) guide. | | **Replace with gap clip** | Replace selected script media with [a gap clip](/timeline/using-gap-clips) | | **Shorten word gaps** | Open the list of [word gaps](/script-editing/shorten-word-gaps) in the side panel | | **Split at playhead** | Split the script track at the playhead. [Learn more about captions](/visuals/captions). | | **File into Script** | Add a file to your Script track at the cursor position | | **Inline note** | Add an inline note at the cursor position | | **Marker** | Add a marker at the cursor position. [Learn more about applying layouts to scenes](/templates-and-presets/overview). | | **Regenerate** | Opens the regenerate modal. [Learn more about regenerate](/script-editing/regenerate-overview). | | **Recording** | Opens the in-app editor recorder to record into the script. [Learn more about using Descript’s recorder](/record/editor-recorder). | | **Scene** | Add a new scene at the cursor. [Learn more about scenes](/getting-started/scenes). | | **Speaker Label** | Add a speaker label at the cursor. [Learn more about speakers](/script-editing/speakers). | | **Text** | Add a text visual to the scene. [Learn more about text layers](/visuals/text-layers). | ### Navigation | Action | Description | | ----------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Jump to composition** | Move to a [composition](/working-in-projects/overview) within the project. | | **Jump to marker** | Move the cursor to a [marker](/script-editing/markers-chapters) in your composition. | | **Jump to time** | Move the cursor to a specific time in your composition. Supported formats include: - 1 32 24 (hours, minutes, seconds) - 1h 32m 24s - 1 hour 32 minutes 24 seconds - 1:32:24.2 (hh:mm:ss.ms) - 24.2 (seconds.ms) | ### Project | Action | Description | | ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Copy link to composition** | Copy [your project link](/collaboration/project-links) for sharing. | | **Project access** | Open the project access manager. [Learn more about project access](/working-in-projects/access). | | **Project settings** | Open your project’s settings window. | ### Search | Action | Description | | ------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Find in script** | Type a word or phrase to search your composition using the search tool. | | **Search GIPHY gifs** | Open the GIFs tab in the Media panel. | | **Search GIPHY stickers** | Open the stickers tab in the Media panel. | | **Search stock backgrounds…** | Open the backgrounds tab in the Media panel. | | **Search stock footage…** | Open the footage tab in the Media panel. | | **Search stock photos** | Open the images tab in the Media panel. | | **Search stock music** | Open the music tab in the Media panel. | | **Search stock sound effects** | Open the sound effects tab in the Media panel. | ### Support | Action | Description | | --------------- | ------------------------------------- | | **Help Center** | Open the Help Center in a new window. | ## Drive view actions Please note that in the [Drive View](/descript-tour/drive-view), you can only use the Action bar to perform the following four actions: * Create projects * Open a new Descript window * Access the Help Center * View the keyboard shortcuts list All other actions are available when working in the project editor.
