# Connect Descript to ChatGPT

> Connect Descript to ChatGPT to import, edit, and publish from a conversation.

Once Descript is connected to ChatGPT, you can run your workflow from a chat: import media, edit with Underlord, manage projects, and publish. Describe what you want in plain English and ChatGPT handles the rest.

## Before getting started

* Connecting to ChatGPT requires a ChatGPT account on a plan that supports apps and connectors (Plus or higher). Sign in at [chatgpt.com](https://chatgpt.com) before you start.
* Enterprise or Team workspace admins may need to enable third-party connectors in ChatGPT workspace settings before the Descript app appears.

## Connect from the ChatGPT app marketplace

[Installing from the ChatGPT app marketplace](https://chatgpt.com/apps/descript/asdk_app_69f0dc45f6048191876c14c1016fe778) is the fastest way to connect Descript to ChatGPT.

1. In ChatGPT, open the **app marketplace** or go directly to the [Descript app listing](https://chatgpt.com/apps/descript/asdk_app_69f0dc45f6048191876c14c1016fe778).
2. Click to **add** the Descript connector.
3. Sign into Descript when prompted, then click **Allow** to grant ChatGPT access. The MCP connects to whichever Descript Drive you're currently logged into.
4. You'll be redirected back to ChatGPT. Descript now appears under your connected apps.

To test the connection, try a prompt like: *"Create a new Descript project called 'Test' and generate a short video about morning coffee."*

* "Import this video from my desktop into my 'Podcasts' folder and transcribe it"
* "Add Studio Sound and remove filler words from the second composition"
* "Find my 'Q2 Review' project and create a 60-second highlight reel"
* "Write a script about how to make great coffee, turn it into a video, and publish it"
