# Upload a File from Your Computer

> Upload audio, video, or image files saved on your computer into your Descript project.

Drag files straight into the script to upload and transcribe in one step, or drop them into the Project panel to use later.

<Note>
  **Video colors look washed out or overly vivid after upload?**

  This can happen with HDR footage, especially videos recorded on iPhone or other cameras that use HDR by default. Learn how to [fix color problems when importing HDR videos into Descript](/add-and-manage-media/ts-hdr).
</Note>

## Option 1: Upload and transcribe in one step

The fastest way to add content is to [create a new Descript project](/getting-started/create-a-new-project) (or open an existing one), then drag a file directly from Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) into the **script panel**. This uploads the file and immediately starts transcription.

## Option 2: Upload to the Files panel

If you want to upload media without transcribing right away, add it to your project files via the **Upload** button. When using these steps, your media is uploaded to your project but not transcribed.

1. [Create a new Descript project](/getting-started/create-a-new-project), or open an existing one.
2. Click the [**Project** panel](/descript-tour/project-panel) in the right-hand sidebar.
3. Click the **Upload** button at the top of the Project panel.
4. Select the files you want to upload from your Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows).
5. Click the **Open** button to add the file to your project.
