# Import files from Google Drive

> Add media files from Google Drive into a Descript project or into a folder in the Media library.

## Add files from your Google Drive

\<Note> Google Drive imports are currently unavailable in the Descript desktop app. Use [Descript on the web](https://web.descript.com) to import files into a project or the Media library. \</Note>

1. Open a new project.
2. In the script area, click **Import from**, then select **Import from Google Drive**.
3. Sign in to your Google account and allow Descript access if prompted.
4. Select the files you want to import.

You can also import by clicking the + icon in the Files section of the Project panel in the right sidebar.

1. Open the Project panel from the right-hand sidebar.
2. In the Files section, click the **+** button.
3. Select **Import from Google Drive**.
4. Sign in to your Google account and allow Descript access.
5. Select the files you want to import.

The import begins immediately. Track the progress in the Activity panel.

  Importing from Google Drive is available in [Descript on the web](/getting-started/descript-for-web). In the desktop app, you can import from [Zoom](/add-and-manage-media/zoom) only.

## Import into the Media library

You can also import Google Drive files into your Drive's [Media library](/add-and-manage-media/media-library-overview) to reuse them across projects.

1. Open **Drive view**, then select **Media library** in the left sidebar.
2. Open the folder where you want the files to go.
3. Click **Add media**, then select **Import from Google Drive**.
4. Sign in to your Google account if prompted, then select the files you want to import.

The files land in the folder you're viewing, and each file shows its own progress. When the import finishes, click **View files** in the notification to see the new files highlighted. If a file fails to download, it doesn't appear in the Media library, and the original stays in Google Drive.
